Ver de toute façon

If you live along with all the other people
Si vous vivez avec toutes les autres personnes
and are just like them, and conform, and are nice
et êtes comme eux, et conforme, et agréable
you’re just a worm –
vous êtes juste un ver –
 and if you live with all the other people
et si vous vivez avec toutes les autres personnes
and you don’t like them and won’t be like them and won’t conform
mais vous ne les aimez pas, et ne voulez pas être comme eux et ne voulez pas être conforme
then you’re just the worm that has turned,
alors vous êtes juste le ver qui a tourné,
in either case, a worm.

The conforming worm stays just inside the skin

respectably unseen, and cheerfully gnaws away at the heart of life,
