Night William Blake par Thomas Phillips Traduction Artgitato française Nuit

NIGHT

Nuit

****

The sun descending in the west,
Au soleil couchant,
  The evening star does shine;
Brille l’étoile du soir ;
  The birds are silent in their nest,
Les oiseaux sont silencieux dans leur nid,
And I must seek for mine.
Et je dois rejoindre le mien.
 The moon, like a flower
La lune, comme une fleur
In heaven’s high bower,
Dans son écrin au sommet du ciel,
With silent delight,
Avec ce plaisir silencieux,
Sits and smiles on the night.
 Repose et sourit dans la nuit.

*
 Farewell, green fields and happy groves,
 Adieu, champs verts et bosquets heureux,
  Where flocks have took delight,
Où les troupeaux paissent plaisamment,
  Where lambs have nibbled, silent moves
Où les agneaux broutaient, silencieux se déplacent
The feet of angels bright;
Les pieds des anges illuminés ;
Unseen, they pour blessing,
Invisibles, ils déversent bénédiction
And joy without ceasing,
Et joie, constamment,
On each bud and blossom,
Sur chaque bourgeon et fleur,
  And each sleeping bosom.
Et sur chaque cœur en sommeil.

  *

They look in every thoughtless nest,
Ils regardent dans chaque nid sereinement,
  Where birds are covered warm;
 Où les oiseaux sont chaudement couverts;
  They visit caves of every beast,
 Ils visitent les grottes de chaque bête,
  To keep them all from harm:
Pour les garder tous du mal:
If they see any weeping
 S’ils en voient pleurant

  That should have been sleeping,
plutôt que de naviguer dans les rêves,
  They pour sleep on their head,
Ils versent du sommeil sur leur tête,
  And sit down by their bed.
  Et s’assoient à côté de leur lit.

Night William Blake 1 Nuit

When wolves and tigers howl for prey,
Lorsque les loups et les tigres hurlent à l’odeur de la proie,
They pitying stand and weep;
 Pris de pitié, ils pleurent ;
Seeking to drive their thirst away,
 Cherchant à oublier leur soif,
And keep them from the sheep.
 Et les égarer loin des moutons.
But, if they rush dreadful,
Mais, s’ils se précipitent,
The angels, most heedful,
Les anges, plus attentifs,
Receive each mild spirit,

Reçoivent chaque esprit de douceur,
New worlds to inherit.
 Afin qu’ils héritent de nouveaux mondes.

*

And there the lion’s ruddy eyes
Et des yeux rougeâtres du lion
Shall flow with tears of gold:
Jailliront des larmes d’or:
And pitying the tender cries,
Ayant pitié des cris d’innocence,
And walking round the fold:
Et tournoyant autour du troupeau :
Saying: ‘Wrath by His meekness,
Dira : «La colère par sa douceur,
And, by His health, sickness,
 Et, par Sa santé, la maladie,
Is driven away
   Sont chassées
From our immortal day.
 De nos jours immortels. »

*

« And now beside thee, bleating lamb,
« Et maintenant, à tes côtés, bêlant agneau,
I can lie down and sleep,
Je peux me coucher et dormir,
Or think on Him who bore thy name,
Ou penser à Celui qui porta ton nom,
Graze after thee, and weep.
  Paître avec toi, et pleurer.
For, washed in life’s river,
Car, lavée dans la rivière de la vie,
My bright mane for ever
     Ma crinière brillante à jamais
Shall shine like the gold,
   brillera comme l’or,
As I guard o’er the fold. »
Alors que le troupeau je garderai».
