Song 2nd by a young shepherd William Blake par Thomas Phillips Traduction Artgitato française Seconde chanson d'un jeune berger

Song Second by a Young Shepherd
LA SECONDE CHANSON d’UN  JEUNE BERGER

When the trees do laugh with our merry wit,
And the green hill laughs with the noise of it,
When the meadows laugh with lively green
And the grasshopper laughs in the merry scene.

*

When the Greenwood laughs with the voice of joy,
 And the dimpling stream runs laughing by,
When Edessa, and Lyca, and Emilie,
Lorsque Edessa, et Lyca, et Emilie,
With their sweet round mouths sing ha, ha, he,

*

When the painted Birds laugh in the shade,
When our table with cherries and nuts is spread ;
Lorsque notre table offre généreusement cerises et noix ;
Come live and be merry and join with me
Viens vivre, sois joyeux et viens te joindre à moi
To sing the sweet chorus of ha, ha, he.

Song 1st by a shepherd William Blake par Thomas Phillips Traduction Artgitato française Première chanson d'un berger

Song 1st by a shepherd
*
Welcome, stranger, to this place,

Bienvenue à toi, étranger, dans ce lieu,
Where joy sits on every bough,
Où la joie habite chaque  branche,
Paleness flies from every face;
Ici, la pâleur a quitté chaque visage ;
We reap not what we do not snow.

*

Innocence doth like a rose
L’Innocence tout comme une rose
Bloom on every maiden’s cheek
décore la joue de chaque jeune fille
Honour twines around her brows,
The jewel health adorns her neck.

SONG BY AN OLD SHEPHERD
CHANSON D’UN VIEUX BERGER

Song by an old shepherd William Blake par Thomas Phillips Traduction Artgitato française Chanson d'un vieux berger

When silver snow decks Sylvio’s clothes,
And jewel hangs at shepherd’s nose,
We can abide life’s pelting storm,
That makes our limbs quake, if our hearts be warm.

 *

Whilst Virtue is our walking-staff,
And Truth a lantern to our path,
We can abide life’s pelting storm,
That makes our limbs quake, if our hearts be warm.

 *

Blow, boisterous wind, stern winter frown,
Innocence is a winter’s gown.
So clad, we’ll abide life’s pelting storm,
That makes our limbs quake, if our hearts be warm.
